Mild Winter

Not much snow this winter. Yet. It was actually snowing but melted immediately on the warm windshield. Likely we will get a huge dump of snow but right now we deal with a bit of snow which half melts in unattractive fashion and leaves ice patches scattered about.

Steampunk Horsefly

Losing It

Baby Stinkbug

This was the tiniest bug. I was taking a closeup of a nettle flower on my phone and when I zoomed in to check the focus I found him.

Crow

He just sat up on the peak of the roof and admired the view while we had a watermelon break. He's getting used to us. I suspect his wife is sitting on eggs and he felt the need to have some outside company. I would so like to get him to take food from my hand.

Winter in Alberta

A storm is setting in this morning. Nothing like the east coast has experienced but disappointing after the wonderful thaws we've been having.
I poked my head out to get a picture of it and was pleased to see the neighbour's deck chairs provide a pleasing contrast to all the grey and whiteness about.

That Golden Hour

We were driving out into the country last night, slightly late for a supper invitation, against the setting sun.  The photo ops were incredible and we had no time for more than a couple quick shots.  My daughter captured the sun in the sky and mirrored on the hood of the vehicle, and I only had time to capture the little grasses, each lit up and alight with the glow of the setting sun.

A Spot or Two of Colour

We don't get the intense autumn colours they do in Eastern Canada but occasionally there is a spot of red foliage for us to feast our eyes on. The leaves are falling fast but some hang on. Just to make lawn raking interesting.
