Is summer really over unless there are pumpkins and zucchini to be had?

It seems strange to be on the receiving end of things like that but jere I am, and my friend Joanne brought me zucchini and delightfully warty gourds.

Nasty cold rainy September Sunday afternoon.  But I know September can be gloriously golden yellow and blue hot and happy.  I am waiting for it.
